I am a puppeteer and visual artist.
I create visual puppetry performances – ‘tableaux’ on stage that evolve in space and time. They are images that echo the imagination, dreams and the subconscious, which I make using different disciplines to make puppets, masks and sculptural forms, that are then expressed through a language of gesture and movement.
These images allow me to express felt sensations that go beyond an understanding of words and through a journey of sensations. I invite the audience to experience images that touch both a universal symbolism and an understanding relating to the sensitivity of each individual.
I studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where I obtained a degree in puppet theatre. To further pursue this path, I joined l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette in Charleville-Mézières, France, where I was part of the 10th promotion.
Originally from the Netherlands, I was born in Germany and have lived in France, Canada and the United Kingdom before moving to Brussels, where I currently live.
